FACTS FOR SERIOUS LIVEABOARD
2. Your galley needs to be a kitchen
A vacation galley-up is only good for a vacation, not for a serious liveaboard.
If you only plan to rent a sailing catamaran for 4 or 6 days, a small galley connected to the cockpit makes a lot of sense. But that same galley may undermine your experience if you plan to live aboard.
With substantially more storage and counter space than other yachts of its size, the Antares galley is designed to provide a bright and open work area.
Movement between the galley, saloon and cockpit is effortless – and the open concept layout gives you clear visibility to the helm at all times.
Unlike most charter catamarans that favour additional heads and beds in place of proper step risers, the distance between the deck and hull floor aboard the Antares can be comfortably accommodated with proper steps. You will never encounter the steep, narrow steps typical on charter catamarans whose interior layout seems to be an afterthought. Instead, thorough ergonomic studies ensure natural movement aboard the Antares.
The Antares 44i catamaran galley has extensive counters inboard and outboard along a floor that’s at just the right width. The cupboards and appliances are placed for at-hand convenience, and the proper counter tops, gourmet kitchen fixtures and stainless backsplashes throughout make the fit-out a rival to many high-end kitchens.
Plentiful storage capacity in the galley means you don’t have to store your cereal at the navigation station.
Features and equipment include a custom-built spacious 7-cubic ft. fridge and 4-cubic ft. freezer, convection microwave, propane stove, Corian counters with stainless steel backsplash, as well as 15 full-size cupboards and 4 large drawers.
